Present yourself to the audience
Hi were Paperback Freud from Stockholm Sweden. We play high speed rock n roll with a sting of boogie in it! The band consists of five gentlemen with the names: Snake, Rocki, Savoy, Yeti and Thundersteel! We have been playing the club circuit in and around Stockholm for the past five years and also toured and played festivals in Europe and Russia! In 2006 we realeased our debut album ROLLER! The album have got marvelous reviews all over in both magazines and press in Europe and US! We have also got great exposure on MTV with a top four on the MTV Up North toplist, with the song KATE! and extensive airtime on Swedish, French and Finnish radio!
The name "Paperback Freud"...why?
We found the name in a US english dictionary a couple of years ago! Its a great name and we have kept it over the years! The meaning is american for a person who has been reading a paperback with psycological stuff, and therefore thinks he´s pro tough he´s NOT!
Who composes? How that is held between you?
We compose together in our rehearsal crib! Everyones involved in the process! Thats the reason to the one and only Paperback Freud sound!
What music style do you prefer personally and what are your influences?
We do listen to all sorts of music! But when we play the reference is rocknroll and hardrock from the sixties to present! Mainly seventies and early eighties hardrock and metal! We see ourselfs as the bastard sons of ac/dc and motorhead! Bringing the torch in to the twentieth century!
What's your opinion about the actual rock scene at your place?
The rockscene in Stockholm and Sweden have been enormous the past years with a lot of great new bands coming up all the time! The problem is that theres not that many places to play in Sweden and the organizers and labels are always taking the safe lane in their opinion, and that leads to a very narrow and sometimes extremely boring booking in general! Its a fishpond with a lot of wannabees and selfcentered so called business people! Thats why a lot of the Swedish bands becom big in the rest of the world, before anyone knows a shit about them in their own hometown!
Generally, which is the reaction of the public at the time of your concerts?
Whe are an explosive and higly entertaining live act! and the crowds are always astouned! Come and see us for gods sake!
What is your best live memory? And why?
Two shows realy sticks out and one was in Moscow at Club Toschka and the resent was this summer in France at Rock En Stock in Le Taples! Amazing audiences and very special in our hearts! The bigger scene the better!
What would be the festival of your dreams? (With you playing in it of course!!!)
Actually any big festival anywhere in the world! But in front of 300 000 in Rio would be awesome! And why not as opening act for AC/DC on a world tour!
What do you expect from the future?
Our nearest plans are to go in to the studio in November and record the follow up to ROLLER! And when its time for the release, will go out to promote it by touring as much as we can! Were a live act and touring is where we belong!
What is your motto in live?
Do what you believe in and do it all the way! Never compromize with anyone, especially yourself! Raise it up the flagpole and see who salutes it!
