CHARLOTTE'S SHADOW-U.K.-ROCK GOTHIC

CHARLOTTE'S SHADOW-U.K.-ROCK GOTHIC
1. Present yourself to the audience

Hi, we are CHARLOTTE'S SHADOW.

2. The name “Charlotte's Shadow”...why?

I(J.Catala) chose the name CHARLOTTE´S SHADOW, from a Goth comic that I was reading at the time, about a girl called Charlotte who was been followed by the dark side of herself (her shadow), which she couldn't shake off. And I think this represents well the sentiments of the band.

3. Who composes? How that is held between you?

Well, first I(J.Catala) do composed the melody, music , lyrics, programming of the whole songs then A.Avalos start composing the bass line and at the end Blas Bernal add with his guitar something more giving to the song the feeling we want to concluded with. So the songs have a touched of everyone of us!

4. What music style do you prefer personally and what are your influences?

As a band we draw inspiration from many sources, but mainly from the romanticism that has dominated the early Goth scene, this is what we try to remain faithful to.

5. What's your opinion about the actual rock gothic scene at your place?

Sadly, it´s not as popular as other styles of music like the electronic but we are very grateful to our public for being so faithful to the music we do.
Besides I think that many people use our music as a form of escapism from their everyday lives, something they can identify with, so in that sense it brings great comfort to people. This is why I feel that goth/Rock is here to stay.

6. Generally, which is the reaction of the public at the time of your concerts?

We should consider ourselves lucky because at this point we always keep the attention of the people during the concerts, so I believe we could called that to obtain a good respond from the audience and it´s exactly what make us go ahead with this project!

7. What is your best live memory? And why?

We have many, for example I do remember the time we played at The Wave Gotik Treffen, we felt great, the public enjoyed our show and “what the hell” we were in one of the most important Festivals in Europe...
However when we played in Ukraine at the Chorna Rada Festival, I have to say that they made us to be at home we felt so welcome, it was a very nice experience.
We had also played with many big bands like Clan of Xymox, The Crüxshadows, Star Industry, etc..., and with all of them we had learn and enjoyed it!

8. What would be the festival of your dreams? (With you playing in it of course!!!)

I know there are many and very important ones but to be honest we would love to play in everysingle one where we can reach as much audience as possible.

9. In studio...which was atmosphere?...etc...

Normally we take our time composing and recording in Studio, so we try to make it as cosy as possible, because we have to try to enclosed certain feelings in the song , feelings we want to deliver to the listener.

10. What do you expect from the future?

To get a wider audience of fans, to released our third Album very soon, bigger tours, more hard work, more Achievements...

11. What is your motto in live?

Make the music part of you, and your everyday life. ........Enjoy it!!

12. Is there something you'd like to say to the audience?

Thanks to everybody that listens to our music and supports the band! Promese to no let you down!!!

AMELIE-FRANCE-FOLK

AMELIE-FRANCE-FOLK
1. Présente-toi aux lecteurs

Amélie, lilloise, je sors mon premier LP « The Real Nature Of The Fantastic Ice Cream Car » le 16 juillet prochain, un an tout juste après mon EP « From The Burning Tree To The Monster Mountain »...

My Name is Nobody, Mansfield Tya, Herman Dune...

9. Quelle est ta devise ?

« Don't be scared by snakes and bees, by judgement, people, radios and TVs, come to me my island girl, we'll draw together beautiful landscapes...”

10. Qu'as-tu envie de dire aux lecteurs ?

RDV sur scène !

BENIGN-U.K.-NEW WAVE

BENIGN-U.K.-NEW WAVE
1. Present yourself to the audience

Hi everyone - I'm Tim. Benign is my music project of dark electro-rock. The debut Benign album "Diaries of Love and War" was released last year - you can check it out at www.benignmusic.com.

2. The name “BENIGN”...why ?

Ha - good question. It's difficult to articulate it, but basically I like the word. I bounced it around for weeks and it felt right so it stuck. In relation to the music I like to use it ambiguously - it's dark music for good people.

3. What musicstyle do you prefer personaly and what are your influences ?

I listen to a lot of different music, but predominantly it's electronic rock or experimental rock. I'm a big Depeche Mode fan, Peter Gabriel of course, Gary Numan, and I love NIN and bands of that nature. Both PG and NIN really opened my eyes to what was possible in terms of melding of genres, and how there are really no limits to what you can do in songwriting and production. I also like some singer/songwriter artists which probably influences my writing style. At the moment I'm listening a lot to of Einsturzende Neubauten. It's good stuff.

4. What's your opinion about the actual electro scene in U.K ?

To be honest I don't pay much attention to the electro scene. My background is more rock, and I am very interested in where rock meets electric. And I haven't had much time recently to keep up with the current goings-on in that scene. In fact it's fair to say at the moment that a lot of my listening is checking out bands that have been around for a very long time that I have only just discovered (like EN) - mostly as recommendations from friends and listeners.

5. Generally, which is the reaction of the public at the time of your concerts ?

I'll let you know! lol. At the moment Benign is a studio project. I'm currently working hard on the second album at the moment for release next year, and I'd like very much to put a stage band together to promote that. It would be a lot of fun to take the songs (new and old) to the people.

6. What would be the festival of your dreams ? (with you playing in it of course !!!)

I'd have to say Glastonbury - it's kinda the uber-festival here. Benign on the pyramid stage, Sunday evening... Yes, that could work :) I grew up in Australia, and part of my musical heart is still there, so The Big Day Out in Sydney would be neat too.

7. What do you expect from the future ?

That's a complex question. So much in the music world depends on chance and demographics. It's a strange time to be a musician. There is a very definite divergence of art and entertainment in the industry, at the expense of the art. It is becoming more and more difficult for the creative musician to make a serious living from selling records - the mass audiences seem to be happy with the talent-show produce. But in a way that is quite liberating, as I can write whatever I like without being overly concerned with whether the industry will like it - quite self indulgent I suppose! Of course there are still lots of discerning listeners out there who are finding other ways to get to the good stuff. And live performance is the one thing that creative musicians can still actively embrace, so the future of Benign will lie in that direction. Short term, I'm busy promoting the "Diaries" album online, and working on material for the next album so that's the rest of this year taken care of.

8. What is your motto in life ?

Life is short and you only get one shot at it, so make sure you don't end up regretting the things you didn't do.

9. Is there something you'd like to say to the audience ?

I want to thank everyone for all the great support you've given me so far - it's been amazing. Things are just beginning but I think interesting things are ahead. I hope you'll all check out the debut album "Diaries of Love and War" which you can get from www.benignmusic.com. And come and visit Benign at MySpace and say hello! (www.myspace.com/benignbandmusic)

EDIE-USA-ROCK ALTERNATIF

EDIE-USA-ROCK ALTERNATIF
1. Present yourself to the audience

My name is Edie, I'm a musician. I'm from Holland, I live in Nashville. I just put out my 3rd cd Realities.

2. What music style do you prefer personally and what are your influences?

3. Generally, which is the reaction of the public at the time of your concerts?

4. What is your best live memory? And why?

5. What would be the festival of your dreams? (With you playing in it of course!!!)

Probablement Pink Pop... because it's in my homeland :)

6. In studio...which was atmosphere?...etc...

7. What do you expect from the future?

I expect lots of good things in the future :) J'attends travailler très dur aussi, j'attends faire

8. What is your motto in live?

You gotta do it.

9. Is there something you'd like to say to the audience?

Yes, it's hard being a musician without an audience..so, whenever i realize that there IS an
audience out there- through people showing up at gigs, sending messages online, buying cd's,
downloading songs, playing a song on their station etc etc
it is really, really appreciated. Inspiring. I'm very grateful to the people who cheer me on; it makes it all so much more worth it.

SONIC X-USA-ROCK METAL

SONIC X-USA-ROCK METAL
1. Present yourself to the audience

Sonic X is a Hard Rock Band based in Toronto, Canada. The Music is basically a mix of retro sounding hard Rock with modern sounding influences. Our New CD will interest both young listeners and classic music lovers.

2. The name “Sonic X”...why?

The name “Sonic X” is basically about having a great listening experience – Like crank the stereo to 10 and rock out to Sonic X “THIRTEEN:”

3. Who composes? ...How that is held between you?

Basically the writing is split 4 ways. We write songs in a variety of ways. It could either start off from a riff that Lawrence came up with or a melody that Adam wrote or by the band jamming together and writing the music that way. The song Disgrace was basically written in 1 night while we were jamming in our rehearsal room.

4. What music style do you prefer personally and what are your influences?

Personally I like all kinds of music as long as it is well written and has a good melody. I love hard rock so I tend to listen to hard rock more than anything else. Bands such as Nickelback, Three Days Grace & Breaking Benjamin are a few examples.
My influences are more the classic bands like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rush...

5. What's your opinion about the actual rock-métal scene at your place?

Rock is definitely back and people are listening and buying this type of music again. The concerts are sold out and there is excitement about Hard Rock/Metal once again. Maybe not like the 70's & 80's but there is a buzz in the air about Rock music once again.

6. Generally, which is the reaction of the public at the time of your concerts?

We are basically gearing up to play live at this time. We are in rehearsals and perfecting our live show. We always expect a lot of ourselves when we perform and always strive to put on a great show for our fans. My expectation is that we will have a killer live show and our fans are going to love it.

7. What is your best live memory? And why?

My best live memories are always playing live in our hometown of Toronto in front of our friends & family. It's always special when you get to play in your hometown and I'm sure any band will tell you that. We are looking forward to playing our new CD “THIRTEEN” for our hometown fans.

8. What would be the festival of your dreams? (With you playing in it of course !!!)

Any festival would be great because there is always great excitement when you play in front of that many people but the one I've heard about and looks like a lot of fun would be “Rock in Rio”. I've seen the Iron Maiden video of their concert there and it looks incredible.

9. In studio...which was atmosphere ?...etc...

In the studio we get right down to business. We come prepared and basically work around the clock to get the best sound and best tracks...however, there is always time to have some fun and mess around a little of course.

10. What do you expect from the future?

We hope we have a lot of success with our new CD “THIRTEEN”. We have worked very hard at writing and recording this CD and would love to reach millions of people with it obviously.

11. What is your motto in live?

Play Hard, have fun and make sure the audience has a great time and gets their money's worth. We want our fans to leave the show and say “Wow, that was a great Rock Show”. This way they will always come back to see us and expect the same great show over and over.

12. Is there something you'd like to say to the audience?

Yes. We just want to thank our fans for being loyal and for supporting us by buying our CD's and our merchandise etc...we really appreciate your support and never take it for granted.
We hope to see you all at one of our upcoming shows and really look forward to playing live for everyone. Please check for shows in your area by visiting our web pages:
